The Computer Crime Unit is made up of
Detectives trained
in the area of internet and computer crime investigation, and law. It is
staffed with two detectives, Det. Rob Faletra and Peter Olson. It is
supervised by Deputy Chief Marty Cohan. The members of the unit are also members
of the N.E.M.L.E.C. Computer Crime Unit and operate a satellite lab that
services Northern Essex County. They also partner with the Computer Crime
Unit of the Office of the District Attorney for Essex County and assist in
servicing the departments of Essex County that are not members of
N.E.M.L.E.C.
The Computer Crime Unit also investigates financial crimes. Deputy Chief
Marty Cohan has extensive experience in financial crimes investigations and
recently received his certification as a Certified Financial Crimes
Investigator from the International Association of Financial Crimes
Investigators in Sacramento California. Detective Peter Olson recently
returned from Financial Crimes Investigation school sponsored by the
National White Collar Crime Center and both officers investigate complaints
referred by the Internet Crimes Complaint (IC3) Center in Virginia.
